Telus APN Settings: The Missing Ingedient

If you ever need to figure the settings out for the Telus APN it is pretty easy to google them. There is however one little thing that you will most likely not find on the websites you visit, and that has to do with the APN Type. I spent more time than I’d like to admit trying to figure this out and had to go through 4 Telus techs before we actually solved the issue so hopefully this saves you some time. Here’s the settings I used:

  • Name: TELUS SP
  • APN: sp.telus.net
  • Proxy: 74.49.0.18
  • Port: 80
  • Username: Not Set
  • Password: Not Set
  • Server: Not Set
  • MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mmsc
  • MMS Proxy: 74.49.0.18
  • MMS Port: 80
  • MCC: 302
  • MNC: 220
  • Authentication Type: Not Set
  • APN TYPE: *

DAMN YOU APN TYPE!!!

Apparently most people will have a dropdown option when it comes to APN type and they will select the option “internet + mms”. Nobody tells you that if you have a phone that doesn’t have a dropdown and instead has a text box, maybe because of mine being rooted, you have to simply put a star in the box. Such a simply step and yet so much headache.
